Mr. Donald H. Nyman is a recognized authority regarding maintenance organizational structure, functional control systems, planning and scheduling, and overall functional improvement.
Don’s career spans nearly 60 years and began at the plant level as an industrial engineer with a leading Fortune 100 corporation. With eight years of industrial engineering experience under his belt, he spent the next seven years with three different management consulting firms as demand for his capabilities accelerated. For the next eight years, he returned to corporate life as Director of Industrial Engineering and Internal Consulting. He spent the remaining 34 years of his career as a management consultant operating from his own firm (The Nyman Consulting Group).
In composite, Mr. Nyman devoted 60% of his career to
Maintenance & Reliability Excellence and 40% to the operational (production) side of industry. He directly supported over 300 organizations in 16 countries on five continents, including 44 of the contiguous United States plus Alaska and Hawaii. Through public seminars, books, articles, and associates, he influenced hundreds of additional organizations. Industries, in order of heaviest experience and influence, include food, primary metals, paper, chemicals, utilities, government, financial, education, and hospitals.
Don holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute and a Master of Science Degree in Industrial Management from Stevens Institute of Technology. His military reserve duty was with The Army Corp of Engineers.
Although now retired and residing in the North Carolina mountains, Mr. Nyman remains active through books and continuing contact with associates. The following pillars are the focus of his recently released book.
